ISO 45001

Every day, workers around the globe die or are injured as a result of workplace accidents. Despite the fact that the vast majority of these accidents are preventable, a lot of employers do not pay enough attention to the safety and health of their employees. Implementing an OH&S Management System is so important. The new ISO 45001 standard provides an excellent framework for establishing and sustaining these systems.

The ISO 45001 standard uses the same high-level structure as other management system standards like ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, making it easier to implement and integrate. It also takes into account that OH&S requirements differ from industry to industry. For example, construction workers have different OH&S requirements than those working in pharmaceuticals. The standard is flexible, allowing companies to create a program that is suited to their specific needs.

Although certification isn't required, it is an excellent way to demonstrate your company's commitment to worker safety and security. It will also improve the image of your business and establish it as a responsible business. It also helps you save money by reducing the number of accidents and insurance costs.

There are seven clauses in the standard. However, the most significant ones are the Clauses 1 to 3. You must identify your OH&S requirements and create a policy. You should also consider the risks your company is exposed to and take steps to minimize them. You should also make sure that your employees are properly trained and are equipped to avoid accidents. You should also inform your employees and stakeholders the importance of health and safety in the workplace. This can be done via meetings, presentations, or newsletters.
